It’s the beginning of a new season and after the game there’s nothing like a little family fun! I served up a frozen yogurt using the Greek Yogurt to create a baseball with a homemade strawberry puree gel for the finishing touches. It’s really pretty simple…
Step 1: Pop some vanilla Greek Yogurt into the freezer. I happened to be tasting the new Dannon Light & Fit to compare flavors & had it in my refrigerator, but there are quite a few options on the market & you can pick your family favorite. It’s almost better to freeze it 3/4 of the way and then scoop. If you freeze it solid, you will have to let it set in order to scoop.
Step 2: Grind up a cookie per baseball in a mini chopper or food processor to create the dirt affect. You can use a gluten free chocolate cookie that can be found in the gluten free aisle at your grocery store, chocolate graham crackers or a cream filled cookie like an oreo.
Step 3: Instead of using the frosting gel to create the seams on the baseball I made a strawberry puree & it’s really quick and easy. Place 1 cup of frozen strawberries, that have started to thaw, in a mini chopper and puree them. Place the pureed strawberries into a sauce pan and begin to heat it over low heat. If the strawberries are tart add 2 tablespoons of honey. Add 1 tablespoon of cornstarch and stir continuously until the mixture thickens. Remove it from the heat and let it cool completely.
Step 4: Scoop the frozen yogurt and put it on top of the edible dirt that you created in step 2.
Step 5: Fill an icing bag with a writing tip with the strawberry puree and add the baseball seams.
Step 6: EAT it UP and enjoy!
