Frozen Blueberry Margaritas

I have to be honest, a margarita is not normally my ‘go to’ drink.  Last year I was asked to whip up a margarita for an event I was conducting for Cinco de Mayo with a group.  As you can guess, the Frozen Blueberry Margarita was born!  And, I LOVE this drink…but waited a whole year to share it on the site for this year’s Cinco de Mayo.

The fresh blueberries mixed with the fresh lime juice, honey, vanilla extract and ice brings just the right amount of refreshing sweetness to balance the cointreau and tequila in this drink.

This drink is EASY to make.  Frozen blended drinks are just perfect for entertaining and summer gatherings.  This frozen blueberry margarita definitely hits the mark and checks all of the boxes to share with friends; if you like margaritas!  I have even been transformed with this delicious combination.

Here is the recipe to blend, sip and enjoy…

  • Cointreau or triple sec
  • Tequila

Margarita Facts….

Did You Know?  The word ‘margarita’ in Spanish means daisy!

Who Invented the Margarita?  It actually isn’t 100% known.  However, Margarita Sames, a Texan socialite, has laid partial claim to creating this drink at a cocktail party in Dallas in 1948.  Who knows? Maybe!

What about Frozen Margaritas?  The original margarita drink is not frozen.  The frozen margaritas evolved in the 70’s apparently by Dallas restauranteur, Mariano Martinez.

Who Knew?  Apparently there’s an annual world margarita competition in Arizona; obviously derailed by COVID, but hopeful back up and going soon.
