Fruit Tie Dye Smoothie

Hi there!  Have you seen the tie dye frappuccino by Starbucks?  Well, this recipe is inspired by that little beauty.

What’s the difference?  I’ve created a smoothie and I’m using all fresh fruit.  You’ll find bananas, raspberries, blackberries and mangos in my mix.  I’m sure you have a few questions?

Is this recipe a little bit of work? YES!

Are there many lessons for the kiddos to learn? YES!

Is it delicious? YES!

Note:  If you want to party serve, simply have the purees ready and in the fridge beforehand.  Whip up the base smoothie when your guests arrive & have the kids add the color as you pour in the base.

Tie Dye Smoothies by Jodie Fitz

3 cups of ice

1 ½ cups milk, low fat

6 oz. vanilla yogurt, low fat

1 banana

1 mango

½ cup raspberries

½ cup blackberries

6 Tablespoons of honey

2 ¼ teaspoons vanilla extract

1/2 teaspoon of raspberry extract

Rinse the blackberries. Place the blackberries, 1 tablespoon of honey and ¼ teaspoon of raspberry extract into a food processor, mini food process or blender. Chop/blend until it’s almost in a puree like state; the seeds will even blend into the mix. Set the mixture aside.

Rinse the raspberries. Place the raspberries, 1 tablespoon of honey and ¼ teaspoon of raspberry extract into a food processor, mini food process or blender. Chop/blend until it’s almost in a puree like state; the seeds will even blend into the mix. Set the mixture aside.

Prep the mango (see below) and dice it. Place the mango, 1 tablespoon honey, ¼ teaspoon of vanilla into a food processor, mini food process or blender. Chop/blend until it’s almost in a puree like state. Set the mixture aside

Put the ice, milk, banana, 3 tablespoons of honey and 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract into a blender and blend.

Slowly pour 1 tablespoon of each of the purees down the edge of your serving glass. Add the banana smoothie & serve.

Dairy Allergy:  Use rice or coconut milk as a dairy substitute.

Red Dye Allergy:  Make sure to use a dye free raspberry extract.
