 Making Mummy Brownie Bites 

We have been having a monstrously good time in the kitchen at the Price Chopper Kids Cooking Club this month for Halloween. All of the kids that joined me at the counters helped me build a festive family fun dinner.  We started with Salad Stuffed Cyclops, served up some Monster Pan Pizzas & now we are ready for some dessert treating yum!

After all, what’s a holiday dinner without dessert? It’s a once in awhile must! Marissa helped me to make what turned out to be one of her favorites; brownies. We took a basic brownie mix & turned it into a scrumptiously awesome bite.  We mixed the baked brownies with a few key ingredients, rolled them with a few more key ingredients, dipped them and turned them into amazing Mummy-licious Brownie Bites that are sooooooo yummy and worth the share! Mummy Brownie Bites by Jodie Fitz

1 Fudge Brownie Mix

½ cup Price Chopper butter, room temperature

2 ½ cups Price Chopper confectioner’s sugar

1 cup Price Chopper semi-sweet chocolate morsels

3 tablespoons Price Chopper milkMummy Brownie Bites

½ teaspoon Price Chopper vanilla extract

¼ cup mini chocolate morsels

White chocolate melts*

Bake the brownie mix as directed and let it cool completely. Once it has cooled, cut it into 1-inch pieces.

Mix the butter, confectioner’s sugar, milk and vanilla together.

In a glass dish melt the 1-cup of semi-sweet chocolate morsels in a microwave on high for one minute. The morsels will not look fully melted until you stir them. Let the melted chocolate begin to cool a minute just so that it’s not extremely hot. Add it to the butter, confectioner’s sugar, milk and vanilla mixture and stir it together.

Using a rubber spatula, cut 2 cups of the brownie pieces with ½ cup of the frosting mixture and ¼ cup of mini chocolate morsels.

Using your hands, roll the brownie mixture into balls approximate 1 ½ – 2 inch diameter. Place them on a baking sheet lined with either Price Chopper waxed paper or parchment paper. Add a candy/cake pop stick to the center of each one. Place the bites in the refrigerator for a minimum of 1 hour before proceeding.

Melt the white candy melts in a glass dish in the microwave on high for one minute. Stir them together before they are fully melted. Dip each brownie bite into the white chocolate. Add two eyes by using the remaining mini chocolate morsels. Stand the dipped brownie bites in a cup so they are upright and let them set fully; placing them into the refrigerator can speed up this process. Once they are set melt additional white chocolate and using a spoon, dip the tip into the white chocolate and drizzle it back and forth on the pop to create a mummy affect.

White Candy Melts: These can typically be found in Price Chopper Supermarket stores in the produce aisle. If your store does not carry them, they can also be purchased at local crafting stores in the candy making aisles.

Candy/Cake Pop Sticks: During the holiday season(s) you can often find these in the baking aisle at Price Chopper Supermarkets, but they can also be purchased at local crafting stores in the candy making aisles if they are sold out.

Casket Serving Fun: At the Price Chopper Kids Cooking Club, Jodie Fitz served up this month’s Mummy Brownie Bites in a casket. The casket was made out of cut craft foam that was spray painted with black spray paint in advance. She then found a black serving tray at Price Chopper, layered it with spider webs found in the holiday aisle & topped with the casket that the Mummy Brownie Bites were inserted into for Halloween fun. [googleplusauthor]
