Patriotic Fruit Kabobs
Any time is a good time to find ways to add fruits and vegetables to the plate. Picnic season is just one more opportunity to find creative ways to bring these delicious bites to the table. Patriotic Fruit kabobs are super easy, but a great way to incorporate fresh, juicy watermelon and sweet blueberries to the mix.
Watermelon isn’t just a great bite, it’s super easy to work with when creating fruity fun shapes. A slice of watermelon and a simple small cookie cutter or large fondant cutter transform this summer fruit into fabulous designs.
These fruit kabobs are great for everyday snacks, a healthy dessert alternative or playdate fun. However, these patriotic fruit kabobs are amazing on a platter for summer gatherings and picnics. They are fabulous for Memorial Day gatherings, 4th of July Celebrations, Flag Day festivities and Labor Day yum.
Here are the simple directions to cut, skew and enjoy…
- 4 skewers
- Watermelon, seedless
Slice your watermelon into large circle slices. Use a small heart shaped cookie cutter or large fondant cutter to create watermelon star shapes. You will need twelve stars for four skewers.Wash the blueberries.
Add the fruit to the skewers by creating a pattern; two blueberries, a watermelon star and repeat that pattern three times on each skewer finishing it off with two additional blueberries. The blueberries help to keep the watermelon pieces securely in place on the skewer.
Red, White and Blue: Where’s the white in this patriotic kabob? Simply create a fruit dip made of Greek Vanilla yogurt and Whipped Topping. Fold together 1 cup of whipped topping with 1/2 cup of the Greek yogurt for dessert dipping yum.
