Looking to grab the kids & get into the kitchen this summer? I’ve got you covered at the Price Chopper Kids Cooking Club! We have a bunch of recipes we’ve created over the years that include everything from developing skills to encouraging taste testing & experimentation. Every month I have new recipes for you & your kids to try over summer break that we hope you will check out. This week’s share includes a whole new Fake Shake for some afternoon cool down yum that tastes like a Reese’s milkshake, but eliminates ice cream even though you’ll think there’s some in the mix. It’s a surprising combo that’s a huge hit at my own kitchen counters.
Create some added fun by experimenting with the use of low fat milk, rice milk (a surprising suggestion to some of you, but you’ll be surprised how good it is) and almond milk to see which one your family enjoys most.
Looking for more fun? Enter to win the Zoku Giveaway below & see how much fun this recipe is in the Zoku ice cream bowl & their slush & shake maker. It truly works and if you use the alternative options I suggested above you can make this a deliciously easy dessert that can easily & tastily turn dairy-free.
Reese’s Fake Shake by Jodie Fitz
2 cups ice
1 ½ cups low-fat milk
2 tablespoons cocoa powder
2 teaspoon vanilla extract
½ cup peanut butter, smooth
3 tablespoons honey
Add the ice, milk, cocoa powder, vanilla extract, peanut butter & honey together in a blender. Blend & serve for an afternoon treat or evening dessert.
Dairy Allergies? Swap the milk with either almond milk or rice milk.
Nut Allergies? Try the Sunflower Seed Butter.
