We are starting June with a Kid-Friendly, super easy to make, Caterpillar Salad that the kids can be in charge of making.
Depending on the age, you can prep the supplies, show the kids the photo & let them create the salad for dinner or if they’re older, let them put the entire salad together themselves.
At the Price Chopper Kids Cooking Club (and at my own counters) I LOVE to play with food. I believe that you can craft with food & find fun ways to make fruit & veggie even yummier!

Caterpillar Salad by Jodie Fitz
1 yellow tomato*
Mini Sweet peppers (red, yellow & orange)
Olive pieces, balsamic glaze or black frosting gel
Wash the baby bell peppers. Remove the top & seeds; slice the peppers.
Wash and slice the cucumber. Cut the cumber slices in half.
Wash & chop the romaine lettuce. Place it on a platter as the salad bed.
Wash the yellow tomato and place it at one end of your salad. Alternate the colors of bell pepper slices & cucumbers to serve as the body of the caterpillar. As you lay them down stagger them slightly to create the wave of the caterpillar body.
Use slices of olives to serve as the caterpillar face. You can adhere them in placed with a bit of cream cheese. Or, use a black frosting gel to add a smiley face to the yellow tomato.
Cut two slivers of carrots to serve as the antennae.
Serve with your favorite salad dressing.
