Okay, this pie is one our ENTIRE family loves, but the dad in our house is a HUGE ice cream fan, so it’s up on the menu for Father’s Day this week. Check out how easy it is; perfect for the kids to make from A to Z!
Snickers Ice Cream Pie by Jodie Fitz
Snickers Candy Bars, mini-size
Price Chopper Whipped Topping
1 – 8” Price Chopper chocolate piecrust
2 cups Price Chopper Vanilla Bean ice cream
½ cup Price Chopper peanuts, chopped
1/8 cup caramel sauce
¼ cup Price Chopper chocolate syrup
Remove the wrappers of the snickers candy bars and cut them into small pieces. You will need 1 cup of chopped candy.
Let the ice cream soften so that you can stir it easily, but it’s still in a thickened state. If it melts to a milk consistency, it’s too soft. Fold in the chopped snickers, caramel sauce and chocolate syrup. Pour the mixture into the piecrust and freeze the pie for at least three to four hours.
Place the whipped topping into a lunch-sized sealable bag. Seal the top. Clip one corner of the bottom of the bag so that you can pipe the whipped cream onto the edge of the pie.
Remove the pie from the freezer. Drizzle caramel & chocolate syrup on top. Pipe the whipped cream around the edges and top off the pie with the chopped nuts. Continue to freeze the pie covered until you are ready to serve. The top of the ready-made pie shells can be turned upside down to create a dome like enclosure.
Lessons for Kids: Every recipe has many lessons incorporated, but a highlight in making this recipe would be the concept of folding ingredients together. Folding is when a heavier mixture is combined with a lighter mixture by passing a spatula down through the mixture, across the bottom, and up over the top. This process continues until all of the ingredients are combined.
