Is your crew thirsty for Halloween fun?  If the answer is yes, then serve them a little Witches Brew.  Mwah ha ha ha!

They will never guess what the bewitched ingredient is in witches brew.  So I say, blend it up, let them guess and surprise away…

What is the bewitched ingredient you ask? Why darling, it’s Spinach!

Spinach is not only healthy, but it adds the natural color without any food dye.  I am the queen of sneak and tell, so while I encourage you to sneak it in, I do encourage you to also tell the kids in your life what the secret ingredient is in Witches Brew.  If they like this concoction, it will help to open your their minds to the power of a recipe.  Over time, they will learn how just the right mix of ingredients can help us eat foods we often won’t eat alone.  If all else fails, remind them that it’s better than the original witches brew of frog toes, hair & beetle juice – YUCK!

Cheers to Witches Brew!

Witches Brew by Jodie Fitz

4 cups ice

2 cups water

1/2 cup spinach, fresh baby leaf

¼ cup lime juice, fresh squeezed

¼ cup honey

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Lime Seltzer

Place the water, spinach, fresh squeezed lime juice, honey and vanilla extract in a blender & blend thoroughly.

Pour 1/3 cup of lime seltzer into each glass and top it off with 1 cup of witches brew and serve.

Added Fun: Freeze vanilla yogurt in skull shaped ice cube trays and freeze them. Add them to the witches brew just before serving.

Lime Juice: Cut a lime in half. Using a citrus squeezer to extract the juice or squeeze it together to release the juice into a measuring cup. The amount of limes used will depend on their size, etc.
